My name is Hanna Mason, I graduated from Colorado State University in December 2018 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Merchandising. Shortly after graduating, I landed my first corporate job within the retail industry at GUESS Inc., Los Angeles. My position as the Assistant to the Vice President of North America and the retail buying team, allowed me to gain skills, insight, and a unique understanding of buying and planning from a global brand perspective.

Through my experience at GUESS, I was exposed to many facets of the retail buying process. I had the opportunity to sit in on buy meetings, cross-functional brand marketing meetings, assisted buying teams with line sheets, sample handling, setting up for buys, and so much more. All the while, I was working with the Vice President to keep the office in order, organize meetings, handle HR changes, and assist with any classified projects that needed to be managed. It was a great experience to be trusted and given so much opportunity to learn at a corporate level. This experience made me so much more passionate and driven to continue my development within the retail industry. 

 

A personal mantra I live by is the saying "perfectly imperfect". These two words speak loudly to me as I gain more experience in the fashion industry. Not one person is the same, but everyone is beautiful in their own unique way. I love to have this in mind while I am trend forecasting and buying for a certain demographic. It is how I adapt to others style that isn't necessarily my own. Keeping an open mind and facing challenges with the mindset of seeing the good in everything is how I keep positive and innovative throughout my work.
